Join us on July 29th for a family event “Turkish Tales Saturday” which explores Turkish culture through story, art and community. The Sancar Turkish Cultural and Community Center (STCCC) will be hosting Turkish Tales for Children and “Ara Güler & İstanbul: a discussion led by Burak Erdim” at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
>>> Turkish Tales for Children will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm and will center around the Nasrettin Hoca stories: “Good Neighbors” and “The Contest and the Candle.” We will host an interactive dramatic reading of the stories in English, introduce Turkish words and cultural concepts, and finish by retelling the story through art (the children will draw with crayons). The suggested age group is K-3rd grade. No reading level is required.
>>> From 3:00-4:00 in the Sancar Library, Professor of Architecture Burak Erdim will be leading a discussion on the work of Turkish photojournalist Ara Güler related to İstanbul.
>>> At 4:00 pm, parents and children can enjoy tea and refreshments in the Great Hall.
