SUMMARY:Delving into Turkish Stories for Ages 5-7
DESCRIPTION:An Imaginary Trip to Turkiye: Delving into Turkish Stories\n“The Worried King & The Repairman”\nThis is a 45 minute story-drama class centered on a traditional Turkish children’s story. Students will listen and act-out the story. \nFor Ages: 5 – 7\nWorkshops facilitated by Derya Agaoglu\, MFA (Theatre for Youth) \nBorn on 1996 in Ankara- Turkey\, Derya completed her primary and secondary education in TED Ankara College. Between 2014-2018\, she continued her bachelors degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling with a minor in English Language Teaching in TED University. Meanwhile\, she attended night-time theatre conservatories. She graduated with the third highest score of the University and top score of the Faculty. In 2018\, she started her master’s program of Fine Arts Teaching in Educational Sciences Institute of Ankara University where her focus was theatre and drama education. In 2020\, she  began her Master’s of Fine Arts program in Theatre for Youth in University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has recently graduated and will be teaching college-level courses. Derya has been teaching drama to young learners (aged 5 to 11) for the past six years.  She has currently worked as a teaching artist at Lexington Children’s Theatre\, which is one of the most well-known youth theatre in the United States of America. She is especially interested in story drama\, cultural stories and devising theatre. She is a recipient of the NCTC Constance Welsh award and she has presented her work in prestigious conferences. \n

Due to the popularity of the Food for Life series\, registration for individual sessions is not available. \nDilip Barman\, MS\, ScM\, has been has been involved with the Food for Life program for many years and involved with plant‐based lifestyle for decades. He is President of the Triangle Vegetarian Society in North Carolina where he hosts the country’s largest vegetarian (all vegan) Thanksgiving. Dilip is Executive Producer of the film Code Blue that shows how lifestyle choices can profoundly affect health. \nDilip is on advisory boards of the Plant‐Based Network\, Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute\, and Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge; a “Vegan Information Point” and Speaker Bureau member of the American Vegan Society; North American representative of the International Vegetarian Union; and an Affiliate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He has given cooking demonstrations and talks in a number of countries and states. His recipes have appeared in a variety of local and international news programs\, books\, magazines\, newspapers\, and online. Dilip teaches at a number of local schools\, including as Nutrition Education Director of an elementary and middle school where he has created a Healthy Snack Program to provide nutrition education and\, several times a week\, healthy plant‐based food for children.1 \nHe is also host of “So many Cooks in the Kitchen” program which is broadcasted from the Sancar Turkish Cultural and Community Center.
